Welcome to Utrain

UNISON routes to learning for Union Learning Representatives

This route covers a range of courses for ULRs, from the core training through to the optional or specialist courses that may be useful for you in your particular workplace.

If you are a new Rep then start with the Union Learning Reps Introductory course and then follow this up with the Organising and Negotiating around Learning course.

The optional courses that follow on the Union Learning Reps' route will be beneficial depending on what you will need to deal with in your workplace. As a new Learning Rep, UNISON is committed to supporting your training and development. Your branch will help you get on the relevant training courses. Branches are also encouraged to allocate you with a named contact who will be able to answer your questions, put you in touch with the information and people who can help you along the way and have a regular catch up with you as you become more active in the union.

To find out more, talk to your branch education co-ordinator or branch secretary, or download the Link to a document on this siteTrained and Active Plan.

ULRs have statutory rights to time off. They should also note that under the Employment Act 2002 they are required to be trained within six months of the union notifying your employers that you are a ULR.

Select a courses from the drop down menu below to find out more detail about each one.
