World AIDS Day on December 1st each year is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection across the world. An estimated 90,000 people are living with HIV in the UK, the highest number ever. Use the Day to highlight your members commitment to ending discrimination against people living with HIV.UNISON newly revised guidance can be used by safety reps and stewards to deal with issues around HIV. These include the rights of members who have HIV related health and safety issues or who face because of the way HIV is dealt with in the workplace. Working Alone is a newly revised guide on lone working for safety reps and members. The guide has been developed to address health and safety concerns surrounding lone working. It makes it clear what is expected from an employer in terms of reducing the associated risks. The guide also contains a checklist which can be used to assess the steps taken by an employer.
