England and Wales

The pay and conditions of police staff in England and Wales are governed by the Police Staff Council (PSC). The Council brings together the employers of police staff - ACPO, the APA and the Home Office - with the trade unions representing the workforce. UNISON is the majority trade union on the Council with five of the seven trade union side seats.

Most police forces in England and Wales incorporate the PSC Handbook of terms and conditions into the contracts of their police staff. They also follow the annual pay rise negotiated by the Police Staff Council.
