UNISON provides negotiating and bargaining support for our 850,000 members who work in local government. This includes people working for local councils, schools, voluntary organisations, housing associations, the probation service and private companies.
New UNISON research collaboration. UNISON's decision to proceed with negotiations over the Local Government Pension Scheme for England and Wales. On 20 December 2011 the Government published its response to the consultation in a Positive for Youth policy statement NHS whistleblowing helpline now extended to social care staff. The College of Social Work (TCSW) has decided that a proposed agreement with UNISON needs to be put 'on hold' until it is fully independent of Government, and decisions can be taken by a Board elected by its own members. UNISON members joined over 1,000 youth workers, students and young people at a Choose Youth rally and lobby of Parliament on 25 October 2011. Joint agreement on principles and timetable for discussions on the future of the LGPS in England and Wales Since 30 November, the LGA has moved to establish joint principles and a timetable for negotiation in 2012 over the LGPS. The briefing below outlines the current state-of-play with the negotiations. Further announcements will be made as soon as we are able to. Local government unions have issued a joint statement on discussions on a new set of principles and timetable for detailed negotiations on pensions.
