Colombia
Colombia is the most dangerous country in the world for trade unionists. In 2006 at least 84 trade union leaders and activists were murdered, including various public sector workers. Many other trade unionists were abducted, 'disappeared' or received death threats.Cuba
UNISON has a long history of links with trade unions in Cuba. UNISON has vigorously opposed the illegal blockade of the island by the US government and through twinning with regions and branches has been able to establish formal links to support our sister unions in Cuba.Nicaragua
UNISON has longstanding links with our Nicaraguan sister unions, the public sector union UNE and the health federation FETSALUD. Over the years we have supported several projects aimed at building the capacity of these two unions.Venezuela
UNISON National Delegate Conference in 2006 recognised and applauded the advances being made by the Venezuelan Bolivarian Revolution and agreed to promote solidarity with trade unionists in Venezuela and to work with broad-based organisations working for solidarity with Venezuelan workers providing these organisations comply with UNISON's criteria for affiliations.Latin America news
