Scientific, technical and dental workers
This group encompasses a wide range of highly skilled NHS workers formerly covered by the old Whitley Council Professional and Technical B (PTB) Sector. Staff covered include:
- Healthcare scientists including clinical scientists who work in biochemistry, gastroenterology, haemotology, haemostasis and thrombosis, microbiology, immunogenetics and histocompatibility, immunology molecular genetics, medical physics, respiratory physiology and clinical engineering
- Cytoscreeners, laboratory support staff and perfusionists
- Technicians/technologists who work in anatomical pathology, audiology, dental, physiological measurements and cardiology, gastroenterology, hearing, respiratory, medical physics, engineering, renal, physiology, neurophysiology, and medical illustrators
- Estates staff
- Operating department practitioners and assistants
- Dental auxiliaries, hygienists and therapists
- Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants
UNISON also has special relationships with professional bodies such as the Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APT(UK)) and the College of Operating Department Practitioners.
New newsletter: Science, Therapy and Technical Matters
(18/10/11) UNISON has launched a new newsletter specifically for science, therapy and technical staff.
