TUC Equality Audit 2011

(13/09/11) The TUC has published the 2011 TUC Equality Audit. The TUC Equality Audit is a survey of union structures, policies and services relating to equality. The 2011 TUC Equality Audit had a response rate of 97 per cent of the TUC's 6 million British trade union members. The results, which can be compared with those from previous audits, provide important reading for all member unions.

Guidance for branches on the Public Sector Equality Duty

(05/08/2011)  UNISON has issued an updated guidance for branches on the Public Sector Equality Duty. This guidance is designed to help branches negotiate and organise around the Public Sector Equality Duty. This guidance also offers advice on how branches can use the duty to organise, recruit and represent members.

Equality duties protocol - updated April 2011

(05/05/11) Public sector employers have obligations under the new equality duties. UNISON argues that all employers should equality impact assess any proposals especially in terms of restructuring, redundancies or cuts.

Equality Bill - UNISON Response

(9/10/08) The "Framework for a Fairer Future" setting out the Government’s proposals for the Equality Bill was introduced to Parliament on 26 June 2008. UNISON has published it's response to the Government's Equality Bill.

Women and Public Sector Pensions

Coalition ministers want to make major changes to the pensions available to public sector workers these changes will directly affect around 3.7 million women - more than 1 in 4 working women in the UK, and over 1 in 3 working women aged over 50 - who make up around 64% of the total public sector workforce.
