Our members include teaching assistants, nursery staff, administrators, secretaries, policy officers, technicians, cleaners, caretakers, school meals workers - in fact anyone working in schools or supporting education.

(18/02/2011)Since 2003 it has been against the law to discriminate against an employee because of their sexual orientation and religion or belief. A new guide has been published which aims to provide practical guidance to both the further and higher education sectors based on the good practice that exists in both sectors.

This leaves the HEI in clear breach of the Equality Duties. It is worth reminding them of this as well as asking them to cross reference the EIA with current Equality Schemes.

Equal Pay Survey in Higher Education

(28/05/2010) You will recall that the 2009 pay negotiations concluded with an agreement to set up three joint working groups covering Pay Framework and Data Research, Sustainability Issues and Equality. The Equality Working Group (EWG)has now met twice to draw up and agree the survey questions.
