UNISON is the largest union in the community and voluntary sector, with more than 60,000 members working in every type of job across all grades. Our members work in non-profit organisations ranging from large national charities with hundreds of employees to small-grant aided projects employing one part-timer. They provide a range of services to local communities and campaign on all sorts of issues.
UNISON now has a brand new group - Community - covering all of our members working for charities, housing associations and other voluntary sector organisations. This group ensures that UNISON provides a strong focus and a prominent voice for all of our members in the community and voluntary sector.
In this edition: news from the first Service Group Executive meeting on campaign priorities and improving representation for sectors, a reminder about our first conference on 2nd November, news of the new housing occupational group, advice on defending facility time, and the latest on the pay situation in Action for Children.
(7/5/10) UNISON’s Community service group will hold its first conference on 2 November 2010, in Telford. Branches are strongly encouraged to send delegates to the Conference and to submit motions.
Serious problems in the UK’s voluntary sector are laid bare in an independent report.
A brand new newsletter has been produced for all of our members working for Together Working for Well-being.
Attached is the new revised UNISON recruitment leaflet produced specifically for use in Housing Associations.
Please find attached details of UNISON's pilot organising course for reps and people interested in becoming reps in the Community and Voluntary sector.
